Mujahid: No threat to other countries emanates from Afghan soil

Mujahid: No threat to other countries emanates from Afghan soil - خبرگزاری افغان ایرکا

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) says its security forces have control over Afghanistan’s borders and that no threat to other countries emanates from Afghan soil.

The statement came in response to remarks by Talatbek Masadykov, secretary-general of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), about strengthening the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border.

Masadykov said the list of weapons and equipment needed to strengthen the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border had been finalized and that the first shipments would be delivered to Tajikistan this autumn.

He said securing the Tajikistan-Afghanistan border was not only important for Tajikistan but also a major concern for all CSTO member states.

Responding to the remarks, Islamic Emirate chief spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said Afghanistan had repeatedly assured neighboring countries that no threat to them came from Afghan soil.

He told the media that Afghan security forces had established a good level of security across the country and were closely monitoring the situation along the borders.

“These concerns that we constantly hear are, in our view, largely unfounded. Perhaps intelligence circles in some countries hostile to Afghanistan, with the aim of creating tensions between Afghanistan and its neighbors, are providing this organization with false and inaccurate information,” Mujahid said.

He added that Afghanistan had repeatedly made clear that if any threat emerged, the Islamic Emirate would take it seriously.

Mujahid said the concerned countries and organizations could also share their security concerns with the Afghan authorities.
