Taliban Government Spokesman: We Will Not Allow the Weakening of Iran-Afghanistan Relations

Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman for the Taliban government, described the martyrdom of the late leader of the Islamic Revolution as a very painful incident for the people of Afghanistan. He said such actions are harmful to all the people of the region, and they want this war to end peacefully as soon as possible.

The Afghan government spokesman called the martyred leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran a very resolute figure, saying he had managed the Islamic Republic very well for 37 years and had a great spiritual influence, especially among Shia communities.

He stated that such a figure should not have been targeted and that a great mistake was made, but regardless, it happened, and they once again extend their condolences to the Islamic Republic of Iran and its people.

Iran Compensated for Afghanistan’s Losses from Cutting Ties with Pakistan

In response to a question about plans to expand trade and economic relations between Iran and Afghanistan, Mujahid said: "During the 10 months that we cut ties with Pakistan, our people were in need, and this severance had to be compensated through relations with Iran."

He added: "We thank the Islamic Republic of Iran, which showed complete sincerity in this regard, provided us with all facilities, and fully partnered with the Afghan people in the trade sector. This capacity should be further enhanced."

Mujahid further noted that Iran is currently at war, and they are ready to provide maximum assistance to Iran in the areas of trade and investment facilitation.

He emphasized that their relationship with Iran is deeper and more important than with other countries, and they will not allow any country to weaken their ties.

We Will Not Allow Afghan Soil to Be Used Against Any Country

Responding to a question about Afghanistan’s role in preventing the spread of insecurity and war in the region amid existing tensions, Mujahid said: "Afghanistan itself has suffered from war, and it is in our national interest that no one is harmed from Afghan soil. We will not allow our territory to be used against other countries."

We Are Also Seeking to Resolve Tensions with Pakistan

Asked about plans to reduce tensions with Pakistan, the Taliban spokesman said: "It was the Pakistanis who violated our territory, and we had the right to defend ourselves. However, we are not seeking aggression and want diplomatic relations and resolution of issues through dialogue. We have conveyed this message several times and are determined."

He added: "Unfortunately, Pakistan repeatedly tries to attribute the insecurity it has faced for 20 years due to its generals' misguided decisions regarding the Baloch issue to us, while our policy is clear to them. There is no reason for us to seek insecurity in Pakistan; this is against our religion and Sharia."

We Consider Ourselves Alongside Iran in U.S. Aggressions

In response to a question about his message to the Iranian people amid their sacred defense against U.S. and Zionist aggressions and his prediction of the war's future, Mujahid said: "I reiterate that we do not want war anywhere, and we are saddened by this war imposed on the Islamic Republic of Iran, which we consider harmful to the entire region."

He stated: "We share in the pains and sufferings of the Iranian people and will assist as much as we can in helping resolve the problems of the Iranian people, including in relief efforts and any other services."

Mujahid advised the opposing side to seriously consider ways out of these crises, warning that if the war prolongs, both sides will suffer more. He said it should not be like the 20-year occupation of Afghanistan followed by Doha negotiations to end the war; rather, they should end the war with Iran now.
