IRNA reported that Ismail Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, said on Monday at a press conference that relations between Iran and Afghanistan were good in various areas.

He said the two neighboring countries, given their extensive cultural and historical ties, should take each other’s concerns into account and make better use of existing economic and trade opportunities to further strengthen bilateral relations.

“Regardless of the issue of recognition, we have continued and will continue our relations with Afghanistan in various fields. Recognition is a legal-political issue. Whenever we reach a conclusion, we will make the necessary decision in this regard,” Baghaei said.

He added that the issue of recognition should not prevent the two countries from maintaining or strengthening relations in various areas.
